Modified Plastics Division: now everyone is talking about the volume, the terminal industry volume, modified plastics also volume, so do pigment, masterbatch industry now volume?
Huesin：
As China's economy continues to decline, with the advent of the post-epidemic era, each of us feel the unprecedented ‘volume’, volume means overcapacity, homogenisation competition intensifies, the whole industry chain squeeze each other to intensify, we can not be alone, by this invisible force rolled up, wrapped up and forward.
When we decided to transition from trade to industry in 2017, Pigment Preparations and Single Pingment Concentrates did not have too many competitors, and nowadays they have also mushroomed, and it is difficult to make a big breakthrough in the traditional field, and it is not possible to roll them up, and these new concepts and products can bring about another growth path, so more and more counterparts in the industry are following our example to make these products.
Modified Plastics Division: How will the masterbatch/pigment market perform during 2023? Do you have any expectations for 2024?
Huesin：
In 2023, the entire masterbatch and pigment market, the total market volume is declining, but the differentiation of the more powerful, low-end product competition is too intense, the direct performance of the price competition, high-end product competition is intensifying, may be a lot of people are aware of, value-added products and services are more likely to be invincible in the competition.
In 2024, we have felt the consumer downgrade is still continuing, consumer confidence is not enough, industry integration tends to be intensive, upstream and downstream interpenetration seems to be unabated, the big device is still on the horse one after another, so it can be foreseen that the masterbatch market will not have too much development, the concept of some of the products ahead of the curve such as Pigment Preparations and Single Pingment Concentrates, but also still will not have too many customers to buy for its excellent performance, a pessimism in which few can resolve to take a different path. In the pessimism, few people can make up their mind to take a different way.
Modified Plastics Division:Nowadays, there is a trend for downstream customers to shift their industries, does it have any impact on us? It is understood that many domestic enterprises, including modification factories, are moving to Southeast Asia, does your company have any plans in this regard?
Huesin：
2023 We also ran a few countries in Southeast Asia, went to do research on the local customers, if we are going to go, most of them are also serving Chinese corporate customers, and then for the certificate of origin, to avoid high tariffs and trade barriers.
At present, the customers we serve, the industrial transfer part is not a lot, but there will be a plan to layout abroad. At present, we have no plans to go overseas, we still hope to find local agents to serve customers.
Modified Plastics Division:Nowadays, everyone attaches great importance to sustainable development, do you have any plans in this regard? Can your products help customers to further reduce carbon emissions?
Huesin：
In our perception, the traditional masterbatch manufacturing process is more dusty and polluting, and in demanding fields, the masterbatch has to be dispersed several times through the machine. This not only causes environmental pollution, dust damage to workers, but also the energy loss caused by repeated passing through the machine.
When Huesin was founded, our mission was to ‘make colouring simple and happy’. Pigment Preparations help us to solve the problems of dust, dispersion and inefficiency caused by multiple passes of the machine for masterbatches and downstream applications of pigments, which must reduce the carbon emission of our customers, but so far, we can't measure the carbon emission reduction figure accurately for the time being. But up to now, we can't accurately measure the data of how much carbon emission has been reduced.
We all follow the national policy, and the state is very concerned about this, but there is really no basis to measure carbon emissions. I also see that the China Plastics Processing Association is initiating the development of a carbon footprint standard, and Huesin is planning to get involved and join in the development of this standard to learn how to reduce carbon emissions in the manufacturing process.
Modified Plastics Division:As far as we know, your company will participate in this year's Rubber & Plastics Exhibition, can you give us a spoiler? What are the advantages of these products that your company will exhibit in this Rubber and Plastic Exhibition?
Huesin：
Over the past year, Huesin's R&D team has not only focused on the leading manufacture of Pigment Preparations, but has also continued to research and develop application technologies for different pigments, different application scenarios, and customer end-of-use applications.
We have developed a range of black masterbatches with ‘low odour, high blackness and very blue phase’, as well as a range of pre-dispersed pigments that are completely wax-free and suitable for both polypropylene and PE films, all of which will be on display at the show.
